Lecture – 1000 Years of Polish Culture and Science
PWWB-PANO, the Polish Academy Abroad, invites you to an academic lecture on Polish scientific and cultural achievements given by Dr Marek Laskiewicz. As Polish is now the second most widely spoken language in Great Britain after Welsh, it is useful for to learn something about the largest ethnic group here.
The lecture is based on the book The Polish Cultural and Scientific Heritage published by The Polish Society of Arts and Sciences Abroad (PTNO) in London and printed by the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. This is the collective work of 50 authors who describe in 19 chapters the Poland’s scientific, technical and cultural heritage over one thousand years of her history; it contains almost 700 pages and about 3000 names of people who are known by these achievements; it was devised and edited by Prof. Edward Szczepanik, the last Prime Minister in Exile and Chairman of PTNO.
The lectures are organized by PWWB-PANO (see www.pwwb.co.uk) under the aegis of PTNO (see www.ptno.org), in which Dr Marek Laskiewicz is the Director and Secretary General respectively.

The lecture will be held in the Celadon Room in POSK, the Polish Social and Cultural Center, 238-246 King Street, Hammersmith, London W6 0RF on Saturday the 9th of March 2013 at 1.30 pm (afterwards at 3.30 pm the same lecture wiill be repeated in Polish); there will be a discussion afterwards. There is no admission charge and all are welcome.
